She possesses in-depth experience in mobile payments and credit cards.  She is an officer on the Smart Card Alliance Payments Council, advisory Board Member at Brighter Planet, socially responsible company helping manage and mitigate carbon emissions using cutting-edge analytics linked to payment cards, and Certified Smart Card Industry Professional.  She is a frequent keynote speaker and prolific author on topics of mobile and advanced payments innovation.

Sergio Cozzolino

Sergio Cozzolino got an Enginering degree in 1992 and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) in 1995. He has been in TELECOM ITALIA MOBILE since 1995 in charge of new services and development on end user products acquiring a significative experience on activities related to SIM and SMART Cards. From 1996 he is taking part to the standardisation activities (ETSI SMG9 and later SCP). As of 2002 he is GSM Association SCAG (Smart Card Application Group) Chairman and in 2003 he chaired the SIM Task Force within the GSMA. Responsible for TIM for the European Research Progrem SCARAB (1998-1999) and TASSC (1999-2001) Esp@ss (2002-2004). Project Manager for applications based on SIM and Smart cards (FINECO Moving, Easybuy,UIC, … ). He was up to the end of 2002 director of the Smart Card and Services development Dept. In 2003 he was Director of the Technical Marketing and System Engineering Dept. for the Corporate Division. Since 2004 he is in charge of the Innovative ICT Mobile Service development Dept, as Vice President, dedicated to the Corporate Customers.

Dominique has joined in 2004 Veolia Transport (Europe’s leading private operator of public transportation).
He is coordinating Veolia automatic fare collection systems projects, and supervises development of new range of innovative services, especially on mobile phones.
He has initiated Veolia NFC field trials (2005 in Nice, 2007 in Provence district, 2008 in Bordeaux) which has fed BPASS: Veolia "solution" for services on mobile phone, ticketing + passenger information + infotainment. BPASS is commercially in operation in Nice (France) since June 2010.

Before joining Veolia, Dominique has worked 15 years in electronic transactions (for Gemalto, Parkeon, and Sema), in marketing, business development and general management.

Didier Durand began his career in 1993 in France Telecom Group.
From 1998 to 2002, he was group internal auditor and had done recommendations to the top management of audited entities.
He then joined the mobile activity as business owner on prepaid and loyalty information system on consumer market.
From 2005 to 2007, as MNP (Mobile Number Portability) Program Director, he was responsible for the stage 2 of MNP implementation in France launched in May 2007.
In January, 2008, he was promoted as Director of project transverse within the partnerships direction of Orange France.
In addition, since April 2009, he became Mobile Contactless Services Director to deploy theses services in France, and especially to establish partnership with the contactless service providers.
He is administrator in the boards of the AEPM (European association payez mobile: www.payezmobile.com), the AFSCM (French association of mobile contactless services: www.afscm.org) and the forum SMSC (French association created by the French government: www.forum-smsc.org).
He graduated as engineer from INSA Lyon Information System speciality.

Dr. Annabelle Gawer
Assistant Professor of Strategy and Innovation, Imperial College London Business School
Annabelle Gawer is an Assistant Professor in Strategy and Innovation at Imperial College Business School, London. She is a leading scholar in high-tech strategy, and a pioneering contributor to the area of digital economy and technological platforms research. She is an expert in the dynamics of innovative business ecosystems and the conditions that lead to the emergence of technological industry platforms.     

Platform Leadership: How Intel, Microsoft, and Cisco Drive Industry Innovation (HBS Press, 2002, with Michael Cusumano), offered a new understanding of the strategy dynamics in high-tech industries, ranging from computers and telecoms to electronics, and became a reference in business and academia. The originator and editor of the newly published book Platforms, Markets and Innovation (Edward Elgar, 2009), Annabelle is also extending her work on platforms to service industries. Her research has been published in journals such as the MIT Sloan Management Review, the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, as well as in the Wall Street Journal. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Strategic Management Education.

Annabelle consults with major corporations in Europe and the USA. She specializes in hi-tech strategy consulting and facilitating strategic workshops for senior executives. In this capacity, has consulted for Nokia, Philips-NXP Semiconductors, Symbian, Ingenico, Gemalto, and SAP. She has also conducted in-depth strategy research in collaboration with a number of high-tech firms including Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and British Telecom.

She holds a PhD from MIT Sloan (“Management of Technological Innovation”), an MSc in Industrial Engineering/Engineering Management from Stanford, as well as a as a “Diplôme d’Ingénieur Civil des Mines” (Ecole des Mines, France) and a “Maitrise de Mathématiques Appliquées” (MSc in Applied Maths, U of Paris). She is a French citizen and lives in London with her husband and their three children.

Kevin Gillick

As Executive Director of GlobalPlatform, Mr. Gillick is responsible for driving awareness and accelerating adoption of the GlobalPlatform Specifications within worldwide markets. Mr. Gillick coordinates and manages the organization’s strategic planning and oversees all marketing and business development initiatives within key vertical market sectors. He works closely with GlobalPlatform’s Technical Director, all three of the organization’s technical committees – Card, Device and Systems – and the GlobalPlatform Task Forces. Mr. Gillick is directly responsible to the Board of Directors and the GlobalPlatform membership.
Prior to his appointment to a full-time role within GlobalPlatform, Mr. Gillick held various marketing and business development positions at Datacard Group. Most recently, as Head of Corporate Marketing, he was responsible for worldwide marketing activities associated with the company’s range of secure identity, card personalization and card life cycle management solutions. He managed several worldwide corporate marketing functions and was directly responsible for Datacard Group’s market and brand positioning. While at Datacard Group, Mr. Gillick served the Smart Card Alliance on the Board of Directors, with a two year term as Chairman of the Board.
Mr. Gillick has served as GlobalPlatform’s full-time Executive Director since 2006. Prior to this appointment, and while in the employment of Datacard Group, he was actively involved in the organization as GlobalPlatform’s Marketing Center Chair.

Jordi Guaus is Telecom Engineer from Polytechnic University of Catalonia and also holds a degree in Business Administration (Open University of Catalonia).

He started working at "la Caixa" in 2000 after 5 years working in Vodafone (Spain) as Product and Service Development Manager for Corporate Market. At "la Caixa", Jordi has been working in Mobile Financial Services, developing services as Mobile Internet Banking and in the last 4 years has been focus on Mobile Payments working together with the Cards Unit of "la Caixa".Since 2008 is member of the Mobile Channel Working Group of the European Payments Council (EPC) working in the definition of the payments instruments and rules for mobile payments in SEPA (Single European Payments Area). Since 2009 is member of the Board of Directors of Mobey Forum that facilitates banks to offer Mobile Financial Services. In addition, Jordi is the Chair of the Business Working Group of Mobey Forum and currently is working in a white paper analyzing the Business Models for NFC (Near Field Communication). At "la Caixa" he is also focus on mobile contactless payments and he is the Project Manager of "Mobile Shopping Sitges 2010", the first NFC trial in Spain that was launched in May 2010 jointly with Telefónica and Visa.

Prior to his current role, he was the Accenture Technology Labs EALA Lead for mobility development.

 

Dawood Khan

Francois Lecomte is managing the "mobile contactless services Forum" (Forum des services mobiles sans contact), a non-profit making association initiated by the French Ministry of Industry to centralize thoughts and reinforce synergies between stakeholders : MNO’s, banks, retail, transport and industry. The goal is to make commercial roll-out of NFC mobile phones happen in France. He is also heading Lobary, a strategic consulting firm focusing on innovation on mobile phones and contactless technologies. As a pioneer of innovative technologies, Francois played senior European executive roles at companies like MDSI/Ventyx (an ABB company focusing on mobile Workforce Management solutions in Telcos/Utility segments), Aspective UK Ltd (CRM and eBusiness solutions delivered over an SaaS model), Fujitsu Personal Systems (Tablet PC’s worldwide pioneer) and IBM France. He is graduated from the Paris ESLSCA Business School.

Roberto Mauro

Roberto Mauro joined Samsung in 2004, where he was a Director at Samsung Global Strategy Group. During his five years at Samsung Group headquarters in Korea, he led strategic projects in marketing, business development and corporate strategy in Europe, North America, China and Asia Pacific. He was also a business lecturer at Samsung HR Development Centre on leadership and marketing. In 2009 Mr. Mauro moved to France as Director of Strategy and Business Development of the French subsidiary office.
Before joining Samsung, Mr. Mauro worked in European and US high-tech companies in international sales, marketing and business development roles, most recently with Cisco Systems.
Mr. Mauro holds an MSc in Electronics Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Milan (Italy) and an MBA from IMD (Switzerland). A dual citizen of USA and Italy, he also studied Chinese at Beijing Foreign Studies University (China).

Samia Melhem

Samia Melhem chairs the eDevelopment Community of Practice and leads ICT unit’s knowledge and learning program at the World Bank Group. She is an international expert on egovernment. Her projects focus on improving Public sector delivery, and outreach to citizens and businesses; and on creating the enabling environment for societal transformation,  using ICTs as a tool for governance, accountability and transparency (GAC), employment and inclusion.  Samia contributes to research on eGovernment policies, innovation, business, and results, and has led the eProcurement Reference guide and capacity building efforts in ICT unit, the Gender and ICT toolkit as well as the Telecoms Regulatory toolkit during her service at Infodev.  One of her eGovernment projects, eRwanda, just won the Technology in Government Award (TIGA) sponsored by UN, Economic Commission for Africa, and the Government of Finland. In her 20 years of service, Samia worked in different regions (Africa, ECA & MNA) and on more than forty countries. She holds degrees in Electrical engineering (BSEE); Computer Sciences (MS), and Finance (MBA).

Sirpa Nordlund

Ms Nordlund was selected as Executive Director by Mobey Forum due to her vast experience within the mobile services and near field communications (NFC) sector.  With a career that spans ten years with Nokia, Ms Nordlund worked in the research and development of NFC following the handset manufacturer’s decision to invest resources in this area.  Once the concept began to advance, Ms Nordlund drove NFC in Business Development and sales.  More recently, Ms Nordlund was responsible for the sales in selected European markets at Venyon, a subsidiary of Giesecke & Devrient which provides trusted NFC services, a position which she held for 3 years.

Jörg joined Samsung Semiconductor Europe GmbH in 2002 as Marketing Manager Microcontrollers EMEA. Since 2007, he’s responsible for the Strategic Marketing Chip Card and NFC, covering smartcard IC for Telecommunication (SIM), Machine – To – Machine (M2M), Near Field Communication (SWP-UICC), Finance, Security and Identification operations.
Jörg represents the Samsung NFC Controller domain throughout the entire market value chain and contributed in the development of several NFC white papers.
Furthermore, Jörg represents Samsung Semiconductor Europe at the Eurosmart Association as a Steering Committee Member and in different working groups; he’s equally part of the eSmart and Smart Mobility Program Committees as well as of the SIMagine Judging Panel.
Before joining Samsung, Jörg started his career in 1994 at the Semiconductor Production of Philips RHW in Hamburg. In 1997, he joined NEC Electronics (Germany) GmbH in Düsseldorf as Field Sales Engineer for ASICs and Microcontroller for strategic OEM Accounts and, later on, Distribution Channels.
In 1993, Jörg graduated in electrical engineering from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Dr. Tuomo Tuikka

Dr. Tuomo Tuikka is a senior research scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. He has been leading ITEA based projects in Europe, and is currently coordinating the Finnish participation in Smart Urban Spaces projects. He leads Mobile Contactless Services research in VTT’s internal strategic OPEN-S research programme and has a research team on this topic. Previously, until 2008, Dr. Tuikka was the coordinator of SmartTouch project, focusing on Near Field Communication (NFC) between smart devices. Earlier Dr. Tuikka has been a Director of software product development with responsibility of international software product development at CCC Group and positioned mainly in Japan. Until 2002 he held Assistant Professorship at the University of Oulu. Dr. Tuikka has been involved in many European Union and nationally funded research projects and published in the area of collaborative systems, usability, and virtual product development. Dr. Tuikka is also the founder of the NFC-based company 6Starz.

Randy Vanderhoof is the Executive Director of the Smart Card Alliance.  The Smart Card Alliance is a not-for-profit, multi-industry association of over 180 member firms working to accelerate the widespread acceptance of smart card technology in North America and Latin America.   He came to the Alliance in January, 2002 and became the Executive Director in August, 2002.  During his tenure as the chief executive, he has directed the transformation of the organization from primarily a networking organization into a diverse, education oriented, international, multi-industry organization that gathers industry stakeholders together to help stimulate the rapid adoption of all forms of smart cards (cards and other form factors) for electronic payments and digital security applications. In December 2008, Randy was named by Security Magazine to the list of the Top 25 Most Influential People in the Security Industry.

Prior to joining the Smart Card Alliance, he was employed with IBM Global Smart Card Solutions; an international product group supporting IBM’s smart card services to its global banking, healthcare, and government industry vertical teams. Previously, he served as on the Executive Board for the Alliance as a corporate member from 1998 – 2001. From 2000 to 2001, he was Vice President Business Development with First Access, Inc. a developer of contactless smart card technology for network access security and authentication.  From 1995 to 2000, he worked at Schlumberger (now Gemalto) as Market Segment Manager, Campus Solutions supporting the development and marketing of smart card–based identification and payment systems.
Randy is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA with a BS in Management Marketing.  He received his MBA from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.
